Owner's Review:

"This is a vehicle I purchased at 90,000 miles. I figured that it was a Japanese vehicle and, with a V6, should hold up well. I put a lot of miles on a vehicle, and like to pay cash for them. I thought that after three years I'd have 200K on the thing and turn it over. The vehicle is going to be sold or traded this month, a year into the intended program. It is an expensive vehicle to maintain, and I've put a few bucks into the four wheel drive mechanism. Parts are expensive and hard to get here in a rural area. And there has been an ongoing problem with the electronics. There are frequent intermittent check engine lights. Several sensors have been replaced, and each time the problem only goes away for a short time. Because I drive long distances, gas mileage also has been a concern. Other sport-utes of this size get better than 20 mpg, while the Rodeo gets what it was rated for intially -- 17 on the highway. However, the thing did pass a recent emissions test, has no oil leaks and is basically reliable. Someone will be able to use it for something, and it should keep going for a long time, despite its foibles. These foibles include lots of wind and engine noise, a lack of power relative to weight (this is a very heavy, sturdy vehicle) and the fact that the thing is undersprung for off-road driving. Occasions where I have had to drive the Rodeo on construction sites have confirmed recent reviews stating that the Rodeo is really not an off-road vehicle.
Some friends have run Isuzus to 200K, but tend to have them in the shop frequently. One associate has swapped out the engine and is well over 200K.
The body has held up well to Wisconsin winters. I had one small rust spot under the passenger rocker panel taken care of. If you can tolerate some electronics goofiness and have ready access to parts, a high-mileage Isuzu might be a cost-effective choice."

Trouble free = no
Repairs = "Electrical problems, failure in ABS brake system, one door lock corroded shut, parts in four wheel drive mechanism replaced, bracket that holds drive shafts stationary broken, leaking gasken between drive shafts, etc."
