EEW likes the Expedition's size. He bought the vehicle so his two boys would have room to grow. Storage is excellant, but note that if you keep the third seat in place storage is drastically reduced. The seat can be removed easily but if you bring it with you on vacation, you will not have much room. Car handles large, but better than a Tahoe and Suburban he test drove. The car does not jump off of the line, EEW did not test drive a 5.4 but would recommend it. Gas mileage, of course, suffers. Change lanes with care. So far, very dependable. Fit and finish are superb. Comfort is great with cloth seats. Price Paid: $32,000 Overall Rating:

ST's Silver 1998 Ford Expedition received almost perfect marks. The only negative comments pertained to the less than perfect air conditioner and exterior trim. ST had to have the air conditioner compressor replaced under warranty. No problems were reported since. This SUV weighs nearly 2-1/2 tons. When the vehicle receives top marks on ride and handling it is clear Ford has done something right. ST must encounter some interesting weather in Oregon and he seems confident the Expedition is the right vehicle to take ST and his family throught the difficult conditions. The single repair to the air conditioning compressor was not enough to dissuade ST from recommending Ford's (now mid-sized) SUV.

NC's 1999 Ford Expedition is his perfect car. The vehicle received very good marks. Every category received the highest marks except for the seats, heater and suspension. The seats and suspension are the most typically downgraded categories on SUVs. NCs Ford has almost 5,000 miles and has been trouble-free. These trucks are well-built and usually have very few problems. Ford's 5.4 V8 provides plenty of punch which NC needs to tow a 6,500 pound trailer.

DF gave his Ford Expedition an almost perfect score. The only category in which the Ford did not receive a perfect mark was for ease of parking. Not surprising, given this vehicles heft? Well, given the size of the vehicle DF still gave it an "agree" rating suggesting that the Ford Expedition really is easier to steer than it looks. One of the reasons the Ford rates so well is probably due to the vehicle's option package. DF got the needed comfort and convenience group (rear air, captian's chairs, etc.) and running boards. He did select the 5.4L engine which had a horsepower upgrade in 1999. He seems pleased, given that he finds the vehicle's acceleration, passing and hill climbing exceptional. DF's Ford has been dependable with no needed repairs at 7,000 miles. A very good review for a popular vehicle. You may contact DF at dean_farrell@hotmail.com.

The big Expedition is a good package. DW notes his Expedition has good handling and acceleration. In each category DW gave his Expedition "good" marks. The interior is comfortable and convenience. Interior storage is excellent. The big SUVs ride is very smooth. Interior wear may be showing more than expected as DW gave it "neutral" score. DW says his Expedition is the "perfect family and highway vehicle." He notes further "there is plenty of room to be comfortable and carry stuff." Most importantly, after 48,000 miles DW has found his Expedition very reliable.
