SDs Ford Taurus sedan has excellent brakes and handles well. Acceleration, with a 3.0 liter V-6 is not up to what it should be. The automatic transmission is probably the culprit as it is reluctant to down shift into the power range. SD finds his Taurus frustrating to drive in the 25 to 40 mph range. However, the Taurus is pleasing to drive once it hits the interstate. The Taurus has not been trouble-free but after 45,000 miles some problems might be expected. SDs Taurus has needed some rather annoying repairs such as the valve cover gasket, a leak in the coolant hose and the gear selector jammed. Exterior paint has not held up as well as it should. South Dakota winters can be harsh on bare metal. The Taurus needs better paint if it is to be America's sedan. Overall Rating:

DB has not had great luck with her Taurus. She gave most categories, such as handling and acceleration "neutral." The biggest problem is that she needed to put a new engine in her Taurus because of a problem with the cooling system. Overall, a rather poor score for what was at one time the top selling sedan in America. Possibly, with this year's makeover, the Taurus might be back on the right track. Overall Rating:
