FL purchased his Diamante used, with about 24,000 miles. He now has about 52,000 miles. He purchased an extended bumper to bumper warranty to 75,000 miles but has not needed because he has never had a problem with his Diamante. He even bought one (1992) for his son. FL's Diamante received excellent scores. Although it was not perfect, it did very well in handling, braking, exterior wear and comfort. Although the Diamante is Mazda's flagship, and is made to compete with German imports, FL gave good, but not great, scores for power. The Diamante accelerates well, passes well and climbs hills adequately. Power did not, however, impress FL as much as handling and some of the other features. This might be a good thing, considering FL has teenage sons. Overall, the Diamante got strong scores. Overall Rating:

Owner's Comments: "For six monthes I was set on the Nissan Maxima to the point where I knew the number of spokes I wanted in the alloy wheels. All reviews on the Maxima where virtually flawless and the power was the best in its class." "THEN I was introduced to the Diamante. Reviews not as good as the Maxima but extrodinary power with a 3.5 liter V-6 and incredibly sleek. The new body (97 to present) is a real looker and there aren't alot on the road. " "New, my diamante stickered alittle over $32,000 but I picked it up about a year and a half old with only 26000 miles for only $20000. I would have paid the same for a Maxima and it is not even considered to be in the entry level luxury class."
