The Mystique is the Ford Contour's twin sister. For 2000, the Mercury can still be outfitted with a V-4 while Ford offers V-6 power only. CH's Mystique is a V-6 with the modern Duratec engine. The 2000 model base price is about $17,890 sticker ($16,307 invoice). This is a lot of car for the money. CH notes that "so far this vehicle has been good..." He enjoys driving the vehicle and remarks that it has a "quick engine and good handling." In the survey CH gave his Mystique top marks in handling and power. The transmission also received top marks. CH gave his Mystique next to the best marks in every other category. He is clearly pleased with his vehicle's performance. However, he noted some concern over the dependability of his Mystique. He has already had some warranty work. He has had his Mystique in the shop for a groaning sound during hard braking, a water smell when using the defroster or A/C and a slight vibration at 60 mph. No major problems but some concerns to watch. Overall, CH recommends his Mystique. Overall Rating:
