Some reviewers have said the Montero is out-of-date. (Consumer Reports) However, in many ways the Montero offers top-quality features for an SUV. The Montero has a sophistacted 4WD system, 3rd seat and solid build. LB has put 30,000 miles on his Montero and his detailed comments provde insight to the vehicle's strengths and weaknesses. For instance he finds the Montero has "excellent power." Although the Montero is tall, LB is pleased with how well his Montero handles. He traded his mid-sized German sports sedan to acommodate his growing family. He has found the "huge interior room" to be quite comfortable. He has also found the Montero's traction in upstate New York snow country has been great. All is not perfect. LB does comment on some of the Montero's shortcomings. For instance, he mentions "exhorbitant insurance costs, mediocre gas mileage, trendiness-inflated sticker price" and poor resale value. He also encountered some bothersome exterior problems such as poor paint (scratches easily) and flimsy exterior trim. LB also mentions rather shabby handling by his local Mitsubishi dealer. Nonethess, LB recommends his Montero although he notes that it is not a particularly good value. Overall Rating:
