Toyota has reinvented the Celica which has not been produced for several years. The Celica returns with a small displacement engine which packs a punch, once you push the pedal and put the engine into the upper RPMs. JR's opening remarks are interesting. He notes that 0 to 10 mph "seems to take foreover." A common criticism in these small engines which can buzz to very high RPMs (the Honda S2000 suffers similar low RPM power drought.) However, JR confirms once the engine revs it really goes. JR gave his new Celica generally excellent scores. His Celica clearly has sufficient power on the freeway and in passing situations. Handling also received top marks. Braking and the transmision received good, but not the best, marks. JR's only low score was for size. This Celica truly is small. There have also been several very "un-Toyota-like" problems, such as some rattles which are hard to pinpoint. JR also mentions a "buzz" at 3000 rpms. Overall Rating: GREEN LIGHT MEANS GO! |
