"After seeing this site I checked the web to see if there are any Yugos for sale. I found one on Auto Trader. I could not tell if it was running or not. It was interesting that the present owner was willing to trade his Yugo for a television 'working or not.'" 7/19/99 SSM of Los Angeles, CA |
"A guy in town used to have a Yugo. We actually saw him break down a couple of times. We tried to fix his Yugo but could not figure out how. I see the guy on occasion now but he is no longer driving his Yugo. He must have moved up in class because now I see him driving a Fiat" 8/10/99 LNS of Sacramento, CA |

"I did see a Yugo yesterday. The car was on city streets and I swear it could not go over 30 mph. The Yugo seemed to sputter and spit when taking off from a traffic light. I bet by the time this message is posted to the web site this Yugo will no longer be on the road." 9/1/99 SSL of Reno, NV |

I was heading out car shopping today, and as I turned on to the highway there it was, a Yugo. I had to take a second look at this car. It was a real Yugo with Ohio Plates. The body of this car was in excellent condition, and I tell you what he was flying up on Route 7. It was the first time I've seen Yugo move this fast and in this good condition. Thank's alot |
"I'm still reeling from a real-life bona fide Yugo sighting...I was coming home from the store with my wife, when I saw it cross in front of me at a 4-way stop. I screamed, "It's a Yugo!" and turned right to follow it. Turns out the driver parked it a few blocks from my own home, so I rushed home to grab the digital camera and hurried back to snap the photos I've attached. (Many bystanders were probably wondering what the hell I was doing, but I was helplessly caught up in Yugomania!) It seemed to be running fine, although admittedly I did not see it doing better than 30mph... But what an experience. I will continue to monitor the alien craft and send updates from time to time. Happy Yugo hunting!" John O. San Diego, CA 4/1/2000

| .I saw a red '88 Yugo GV just today! I was in it at the time. Say, your link to the parts is very slow. Slower than a Chrysler K car. Regards.... Lou 5/10/00 |
Frst off, let me say that as a Yugo owner, one HAS to keep a certain sense of humor about all the Yugo jokes out there. And granted, SOME people had bad experiences with their cars when they were new. BUT, with that said, the Yugo in America is FAR from being merely a historical footnote. There are many Yugos out there that are still humming along, my own 1990 Yugo GV+ included. There are parts sources to supply all the parts for them in the US (Orion Motors in Texas and Apple Motors in Colorado are two of the best) and if properly maintained, they can provide YEARS of dependable service at a price FAR cheaper than anything else out there on the road, if you factor in the low cost to purchase. Now, granted, they do require proper maintainance to keep them running, but so does a Ferrari. (And both cars were designed in Italy, BTW) But that does not make it a "failure" for anyone capable of learning basic maintainance procedures. Perhaps "Bubba", who's been a'lookin fer a reason ta buy a set o' them thar "met-ric" tools, may not be able to keep one on the road by just pouring a little Wal-Mart recycled oil in it every 10,000 miles or so like his Chevy pickup, but that's not the CAR'S fault. As gas prices continue to creep back up this summer, the Yugo owners will find themselves laughing right along with the Ford Expedition owners both at the pump, AND as they pass them on the interstate (Don't laugh- mine does it all the time). The Yugo goes in snow like a Beetle (the REAL one, not that curved Rabbit they sell nowadays), gets GREAT fuel milage, and with a few fairly inexpensive modifications, can outperform Mustangs and Camaros both on the dragstrip and the road course. Hardly a failure, by my standards. But some of those jokes are kinda funny; I'll grant you that much. :-) 5/14/00 - Jay Travis Owner, 1990 Yugo GV+ |

First off I would like to say is that I really love Yugo's and second is that I saw on the internet at the Berlin Autoshow of the new 2000 YUGO'S. it really looks good and the interior has a two-tone color and some of them have a electric motor. I can't wait tell they come back to the U.S. A.D. Bronx, NY 5/20/00 |
well... first, I'm sorry for my bad English:) I saw a Yugo a few years ago running at southeast division in the scca championship, and the gain in street autocros in new Orleans organized by the PCA. And guess what. yugo has beaten ALL of the 17 Porsches in that race. It is regularly winning in his class (E prepared) to see more about that yugo please visit my web site (www.abarth.org ) (look for the articles from the SCCA sports car magazine) That stories about Yugos aren't right, you will see that it's obvious that you don't like yugo's but still take a look on my site and I know stories about stock yugos winning races against much better cars... A young woman who lives about four blocks from me regularly drives a Yugo. It is beige in color and sports quite a number of bumper stickers, which proclaim a left-wing political ideology of the "eat the rich" genre. The bumpers, in turn, are held to the car with several bungee cords. I see the car in her driveway everyday as I drive by on my way to work, and sometimes I see her driving in the neighborhood. Just the other day, she was parked beside me at the grocery store. She's kinda cute, and has personalized vanity license plates, which read "yugo grl." 5/21/00 Tom Foley, Minneapolis, Minnesota |
When I saw the car, I remember thinking to myself "those still run"? So I saw this Yugo, in Chicago in April of 2000. It was silverish gray (more rust than silver), and sounded like a Harley. He was trying some daredevil move into oncoming traffic, which was what brought it to my attention. Frederick, Chicago, 4/00 |

How about I have one! Picked it for getting it running. Now stuck trying to find the timing belt alignment proceedure, it broke. Still, it was running fine until last week. Has 141000 on it. If you know of anyone that has a picture of the procedure, pass my email on to them, please. Thanks Art Healdsburg, CA - 5/15/00 |
